The Athlete’s Fund is proud to support more than 30 outstanding organizations dedicated to expanding access to youth athletics in inner-city communities. Through these partnerships, and the support of our donors, opportunities that foster discipline, confidence, and long-term success are achievable.

Fast Feet NYC

Fast Feet NYC helps youth athletes realize their athletic potential, increase their personal fitness, and develop healthy habits through different programming and running clubs options. Their running clubs for schools create inclusive and supportive team environments within a school community. Athletes, coaches, and teachers all work towards a common goal of improvement with each training session. In this safe and supportive setting, athletes build their endurance, speed, and movement patterns in individuals of all abilities.

“Xiomara was born at 23 weeks of age and had the odds stacked against her from day one — tracheostomy, ventilator and g-tube dependent, and nonverbal until age five. She was the youngest and smallest in her Fast Feet group, but that didn’t stop her from lacing up, showing up, and never giving up.

Two years later, she ran her first 5K completely on her own. Fast Feet has sparked a love for running that can’t be quenched and gives her a space where she feels seen, accepted, and limitless. At Fast Feet, there are no limitations on what can be achieved — only barriers to break.”

“I would like to personally thank the Athletes Fund for its many years of generous support to the Inner City Handball Association (ICHA).

In 2026, we anticipate clinic and tournament participation to grow by 25% or more as New York City hosts the World Wallball/Handball Championships for the very first time — an event that will bring together over 800 athletes from more than 15 countries. As the host organization for this historic occasion, ICHA is honored to continue partnering with the Athletes Fund to help make this milestone event a success.”

North East Westchester Special Recreation, Inc

North East Westchester Special Recreation, Inc. is a community based therapeutic recreation program for children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities residing in Westchester County, New York.

“Thanks to the generous support of the NYAC Athlete’s Fund, North East Westchester Special Recreation has been able to open new doors of opportunity for our athletes. Two years ago, Special Olympics introduced a brand-new sport—floorball—and our agency was eager to join the excitement. At the time, we had no equipment, protective gear, or uniforms for our athletes. Through their grant, we were able to purchase everything needed to build a complete program—from sticks and nets to team jerseys—allowing our athletes to train, compete, and take pride in representing North East. The results have been extraordinary. Our floorball team advanced through regional and state competitions to earn a place at the 2025 Special Olympics World Games in Italy, where they proudly won the bronze medal. This achievement not only reflects the dedication and talent of our athletes but also the lasting impact that the Athlete’s Fund has made on their lives. Because of this grant, our participants gained more than equipment—they gained confidence, teamwork, and a global sense of accomplishment that will inspire them for years to come.”

Swim Strong Foundation

Swim Strong Foundation’s mission is to save and change lives through water safety education and teaching swimming skills. The Foundation guides students from age three through adulthood towards a healthy lifestyle via exercise, proper nutrition and competitive sports.

“I want to personally thank Jim Rafferty (Athlete’s Fund President) and everyone at the NYAC Athlete’s Fund for your many years of generous support for our Learn to Swim programs. Over the past twelve-plus years, your $40,000 in funding has provided life-saving swim lessons to more than 200 underserved children. Without this support, many of these young people might never have had the chance to gain essential water safety skills or learn how to be safe in, on, under, and around the water.

Beyond funding, we’ve also been fortunate to have NYAC athletes join us for community Water Safety Day events—helping children and families overcome generational fears of water through positive, hands-on experiences. Your members’ enthusiasm and mentorship have made a lasting impact.
In addition, your athletes’ participation in our Bootcamp clinics for competitive swimmers has elevated skill development and inspired our young swimmers. Their expertise and example have helped shape the next generation of competitors and water safety advocates.

Our shared commitment to water safety and fostering a lifelong love of swimming makes this partnership a natural and meaningful one. As Swim Strong celebrates its 20th Anniversary in the coming year, we hope to continue building on this relationship and to collaborate on the celebration and beyond.
Thank you again for your enduring partnership and for helping us save lives and strengthen our community through swimming.”
